Not for the Feint of Heart

Students in Mrs. Erikson's accelerated 7th grade physical science class learned about light waves and how they help us see.  What they learned is that our eyes are sensitive to a very narrow band of frequencies within the enormous range of frequencies of the elctromagnetic spectrum.  This narrow band of frequencies is referred to as the visible light spectrum.  Specific wavelengths within the specturm correspond to a specific color based on how humans typically perceive light of that wavelength.  The long wavelength end of the specturm corresponds to light that is perceived to be red and short wavelength end of the specturm correcsponds to light that is perceived to be violent.

Their culminating activity was to dissect a sheep's eye.  The students had to identify all the parts essential for eyesight.
