Ms. Lanty's and Mrs. Rudd's classes have been raising butterflies in the classroom. They arrived as tiny caterpillars. The students provided food and shelter for their insects and observed the daily changes that occurred. Once, the caterpillars formed their chrysalis, they were transferred to a butterfly house. The students are amazed at the metamorphosis that their caterpillars have gone through in becoming beautiful Painted Lady butterflies. The highlight of the study was releasing the butterflies into the community and watching them fly away! If you are lucky, one of our butterflies might visit your backyard!
