Important Information-latest information at bottom

Dear Lyncourt School Parent or Guardian:

An employee in our district has tested positive for  COVID-19. Knowing that our work with Onondaga Health Department will begin tonight and continue into early tomorrow morning, we made the decision to move to remote learning for the entire Lyncourt School District for tomorrow , October 30th to allow adequate time for contact tracers to complete their work. Again, tomorrow October 30th, no STUDENTS will report to the building.

Due to legal considerations, we cannot provide any additional information to you about the identity of the staff member who tested positive.  We ask that you continue to encourage your children to practice good hand-washing hygiene, wear facemasks in the proper manner, and practice social distancing.

We would like to remind families that if at any time your child shows symptoms of COVID-19

(including fever, cough, headache, body aches, diarrhea and nausea/vomiting), please contact your healthcare provider and ask that your child receive testing for COVID-19. Keep your child at home while they show symptoms and keep us informed.

UPDATE-Phone call that went out at 3:15 on Friday:

Attention Lyncourt Community:
I would like to provide you with an update regarding our positive COVID-19 case.

I have still not received any word from the Onondaga County Department of Health regarding the individual results of our proactive Covid-19 pool test that took place on Wednesday, October 28th. They did indicate to me that it would take 24-48 hours for the individual staff members to get their results.

Out of an abundance of caution and not knowing which staff member (s)  or students were impacted, I decided to go to a fully remote teaching model for today.
As soon as I hear more concrete information I will let you know. I apologize  for the inconvenience and angst this has caused.
Take care and be safe,

Mr. Austin

Phone Call from Mr. Austin November 2, 2020

Dear Lyncourt School Parent or Guardian:

Over the weekend in cooperation with the Onondaga County health Department we have identified two positive COVID-19 cases amongst our staff. Based on the recommendation of the health department and contact tracing we have identified an additional 5 staff members that need to quarantine.

Out of an abundance of caution and the number of staff members that are under mandatory quarantine from our recent positive Covid-19 cases, we have made the decision to go to a fully remote learning model for the next two weeks. All students will be fully remote from today, November 2nd through Friday, November 13th. Our current plan is to return to in-person instruction on Monday, November 16th.

Knowing that our work with Onondaga Health Department will be ongoing for the next few days, we felt it was better to prevent any further spread of COVID-19 and allow adequate time for contact tracers to complete their work.

The Health Department has begun the process of notifying individuals considered to be in “close contact” with the staff member or any students who have tested positive. Again, out of an abundance of caution, students will NOT be attending in-person schooling at Lyncourt School from November 2nd-November 13th.  Please make certain that your child is prepared to be online at their designated class meeting times for the next two weeks to meet with their teachers and receive instruction and assignments virtually. We will contact each class individually with material pickup times.

In addition to following the recommendations of the Onondaga County Health Department, we will continue to deep clean and sanitize our school buildings, as we have done each day, in addition to following all safety procedures and protocols.

Due to legal considerations, we cannot provide any additional information to you about the identity of the staff members who tested positive.  We ask that you continue to encourage your children to practice good hand-washing hygiene, wear facemasks in the proper manner, and practice social distancing.

If you or a family member start to exhibit symptoms of the virus (fever, shortness of breath, vomiting, diarrhea and/or coughing, for example), please reach out to your physician and inform your child’s school nurse. If there are further updates, we will communicate them directly with you. Our students’ safety is our highest priority.

We appreciate your support as we work through this challenging situation together.
