Juneteenth

There will be no school on Friday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth.  Juneteenth (a blend of "June" and "nineteenth") is a federal holiday in the United States celebrated on June 19. It commemorates the effective end of slavery in the country, marking the day in 1865 when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to ensure all enslaved people were finally freed.
